Weather Stations

 Measuring Stations for Meteorological Observations

Weather station: Temperature sensor with radiation shield
Weather station: Combined wind sensor
Weather station: Global radiation sensor
Weather station: Tipping bucket rain gauge
Weather station: Data logger wilog306

Weather station: Mast installation

Based on our data loggers wilog303/306 and blueberry NDL485, we offer complete standard or custom-built measuring systems for meteorological observations. The universal measuring inputs are compatible to almost any sensor providing a frequency, voltage or current signal. The NDL485 provides furthermore a serial RS485 interface. Virtual channels allow the definition of an individual characteristic curve for each of the sensors. All measured values are stored and displayed in real engineering units (e.g., °C for temperature or W/m² for global radiation).

A meteorological station consists of the following components:

Sensors
The particular application of the weather station determines the respective sensor types. Generally, the following climatological parameters are acquired:
Wind speed
Wind direction
Temperature and relative humidity of the ambient air
Barometric pressure
Global radiation
PAR radiation (agrometeorology)
UV radiation (health resort)
Leaf wetness (agrometeorology)
Soil temperature
Soil moisture (agrometeorology)
Precipitation
Data logger
Measured values are recorded by the data logger. The preevaluated data are stored as time series. Additionally, recent measured data are indicated on the LCD.
Shelter box
A steel shelter box protects the data acquisition system against weather, theft, and vandalism.

GSM modem (optional)
The measured data stored in the data logger are read out locally via notebook or pocket PC. Optionally, a GSM modem connected to the data logger allows remote data transmission to any PC with telephone modem.

Power supply
Installations inside buildings are usually supplied from 230VAC mains power by means of an AC/DC converter. An autonomous power supply of remote stations is realized by means of a photovoltaic solar system.
Measuring mast (optional)
The installation of wind sensors on a measuring mast ensures a measurement in the indisturbed air flow. Depending on the measurement site, further sensors are installed on a measuring mast or on top of a building.
